Condition 1: Subject to any prohibitions or restrictions contained in any other condition(s), the designated centre shall be operated at all times in accordance with the Statement of Purpose within the footprint of the designated centre on the floor plan received on 26 January 2026. The registered provider shall only provide for the specific care and support needs, and services, within the facilities as set out the Statement of Purpose, as agreed with the Chief Inspector at the time of registration. Any changes to the specific care and support needs and services provided must be agreed in advance with the Chief Inspector. Condition 2: Only persons aged 18 years or older shall be accommodated at the designated centre at any time. Condition 3: The maximum number of persons that may be accommodated at the designated centre is: 66.

Firstcare Blainroe Lodge is a well-managed nursing home where residents receive kind, person-centred care from knowledgeable staff. Most residents have dementia and appear content and well cared for. The home offers a variety of activities and good food choices. However, some areas of the building need maintenance and better cleaning, and medication storage temperatures were not always safe.

Residents have access to a variety of meaningful activities including music, exercise, knitting, and bingo.
There is a clear management structure with regular audits and quality improvement plans.
High compliance with staff training and good supervision arrangements.
Residents have good access to healthcare professionals and can receive visitors without restrictions.

What needed to improve

Some areas of the home, including the Snoezelen room and visitor's room, were not clean and had cobwebs and debris.
Damaged walls, paintwork, and furniture were found in some rooms, especially on unoccupied floors.
Medication storage temperatures were not consistently monitored or kept within safe limits.
Some fire doors had gaps, reducing their effectiveness in a fire emergency.
